This is my new favorite style recipe for staying warm: sporty puffer jacket + cool snow pants + serious winter boots
Sporty Puffer Jackets:
While this looks like a fashion jacket...it's not. It's actually a super chic ski jacket, with binding at the wrists and a powder skirt so snow doesn't get in. It's down but lightweight, and I wouldn't hesitate to wear this on the slopes, around town or making snow angels with the kiddos.
2. Roxy Quinn Jacket, $240
I tried on this exact snowboard jacket. It manages to hit that sweet spot between a short jacket and a 3/4 length one. It is neither, actually, just perfectly in between. The faux fur detail is more feathery than most - a little detail I loved. And it's not black! It's a dark charcoal, with color variations that evoke a very subtle tweed. This one was SO warm it kicked off some lingering chemo-related hot flashes. I left it in the store, only to curse that decision later as temps continued to drop. (Found it for $119 at 6pm in blue....)
I love this colorful twist on a down parka. And like the others, this one is also designed for the slopes, which means that it'll hold up to any sort of kid-related shenanigans.
4. Lole Emily Down Jacket, on sale for $89
This is a short, slim little puffer jacket, similar in fit to the UA puffer I'm wearing here. I love the contrast zipper (the jacket is reversible, BTW), and the price point couldn't be beat. Like my UA puffer, I suspect you could layer this under a shell if you really needed to.
1. Ride Snowboards Take Over Pant, on sale for $116
I also tried these on (in orchid tweed). I loved the slouchier fit, the cool tweedy fabric, and the back pocket zippers. These actually look good (like real pants) without a jacket. I'm pretty short, so in the end I went with the sleeker pant overall. But these are seriously awesome.
2. Ride Leschi Pants, on sale for $135
Tried these on, too. The fit is fairly slim with well placed zipper pockets, yet comfortable. The colors are bright. I love the neon yellow (absinthe twill), the orange (strawberry slub) and the purple-y "scratches" print. I found the XS to be a tad tight in the waist which was surprising, but nice (snowpants often come so oversized).
3. Athleta Ski Daddle Ski Pant, on sale for $119
Love the look of these pants, the fact they are lined in fleece, and the rave reviews.
4. Burton LAMB Tux Pant, $179
This pant was the result of a collaboration between Burton and LAMB (Gwen Stefani's line). Love, love, love it. This pant is almost sold out everywhere (except the link above). (I'm also loving Burton's camo pant...crazy?)
Serious Winter Boots
1. North Face Shellista, $150
I'm obsessed with bright laces on snowboots. Especially ones as warm and cute as these.
2. Kamik Luxembourg, $120
I love the moonboots-meets-pocahontas vibe of this boot. These would work over skinny jeans, too.
3. Sorel Tofino Herringbone Boot, $150
Well. This was the boot of the year. And is almost completely sold out. The Tofino boot is one of the lighter weight winter boots that Sorel offers. (The brown herringbone color isn't bad either.) Gosh, most of Sorel's line is all sold out, but REI has a decent number of Winter Fancy Lace boots left, as well as the ones I bought.
4. Sorel Tivoli Waterproof Boot, $119
Neon contrast laces? Yes, please. I also like the slightly shorter height - it fits better under snowpants.
Hunh. Several of my boot picks sold out in the last 48 hours. Crazy. Anyone else have luck in the chic snow gear department?
