You are not old. Whoever thought this up is insane. I love, love, LOVE your blog. You have a wonderful voice!

How funny about the color blocking pants. I think they are supposed to be slimming because they have those dresses out there with the same detail! As for the second trend, I think that's ridiculous :)

Dying. Does she think those control top lines are sexy, like underwear or something? Craziness!

Then I'm getting old, too! Eeww!!

"she".  Amy, I so wish it was only one person.  At last count, I've now seen 4 different bloggers rocking this in the last few days.  Ugh.  4.

That is ridiculous. The color-blocking...meh. That seems like one designer who had a bad day. But a trend towards exposing control tops? WTF?

My high school students do purposefully show their control tops, and most of them are slim, lovely 16 year olds who do not need control top!

I know people try to strive for "edgy" or something, but I think both of these cross the line into tacky. Definitely not anything I'd wear!

When I scrolled down, I thought, 'really, giant flower hats are a trend? I know everybody's trying to look like a royal and all, but sheesh.' Then I realized what you were talking about. They did a segment on funky tights on the today show yesterday and they all looked- blech.

The pants don't bother me that much - they're like a more extreme version of the J Brand riding pants (jodhpur). They would look better if the pants were darker and there was less contrast btw the panels and the fabric. But the control top pantyhose...No. Just no. (And why would anyone wear control top pantyhose if they didn't need it???)

I guess exposing control tops was just the next step after all the showing bra straps and thongs. Definitely not my thing!

That daisy picture was me... ha ha just kidding. That is awful. And the color blocking, really? Although that is what my abs look like so... or not.

wow...just wow...i must be getting old too because i don't get it either. The control top trend must be the winter version of ever so popular among the celebrities 'no-underpants trend' we usually see in summer :-)

Thanks for the comments, Gang! And ANN - are you serious? High school? OMG - things have changed.

Lia - I agree with your changes. But as-is....wow. Such a total fail.

Kristen - Color-blocked abs....now THAT's a good idea....

Polina - your comment cracked me up. Of course.

Oh, you wouldn't believe some of the things my students wear.

Now, that's a good challenge for a future post...what to wear to teach at a high school and then immediately pick up your kids at the end of the school day and spend the afternoon with them!

Issue: Don't want to look dowdy/school-teachery but also don't want to look "too young" or as if I am copying my students' clothing choices.

colorblocked pants are not for me either, but have seen not absurd versions of the trend. though this woman can prolly wear whatev.

Wow Margene!!  Gorgeous pic!!  Personally, I LOVE color-blocked pants when the stripe is on the outside....it's just that weird inner stripe thing that looks so weird.  But your link?  Love it.  Kind of tux-pant inspired.

Good lord. Why would anyone want to advertise that their thighs only look that thin because of the panty hose? You might as well say, "my thighs are actually two inches bigger." Sexy.
