If your favorite color is sparkle, sequin, or shiny, this look is for you. The glitz factor is sky-high this season, and nothing feels more festive than a shimmery little something-something. Besides, all of these shiny, glimmering fabrics will draw the eye right to them....and if done correctly, will distract from the rest of the boobs/ribs/hips/butt disaster.
Also, if you haven't typically been a glitzy-glam-girl in your previous life, keep in mind that these types of tops are able to make jeans and a simple tank party-worthy. That means you can wear a pair of jeans, a comfy tank, and your high heeled boots (with thick Smartwool socks)...to a party. And still look amazing. Really.
You can get just about anything covered in sequins and sparkle this season, but I'm really loving the sequined cardigans. I love the combination of a conservative silhouette in such a YAY LOOK AT ME fabric. However, if all-over sequins are a bit much, look for sequin vests, sequin lapels, or sequin boleros.
Here are my favorite shiny, sparkly little something-somethings:
Sequins Sequins Everywhere
I love the brilliant blue color of Free People's Pop Star Cardigan. It's slightly cropped shape and dolman sleeves give it a slouchy-chic vibe that offsets the glam sequin and beading detail. It retails at freepeople.com for $198.
BB Dakota's Black Andisue Sequin Jacket, $83 at revolveclothing.com, is another fav. I could wear my beat up boyfriend jeans with this jacket and still look party-ready.
Lastly, there's just....something....about Modcloth's Shine Fever Capelet, $62.99. The cape part can detach, leaving just a cute, little, victorian looking, sequin jacket. Sounds like an oxymoron, right? I love that it forgives arms, creates a nipped in waist, and is totally glamorous. It's one of those pieces that I like more and more each time I see it. I see myself wearing it with red glossy lips and a flirty ponytail.
On a Smaller Scale
Be still my heart. Topshop's Knitted Loopy Sequin Jacket has that boho vibe that, after many, many seasons, I still can't resist...and it is a perfect meld of both boho and glam. To quote the little man: "I want! I want! I want!" It retails for $160 at topshop.com.
I'm a sucker for jackets made out of sweatshirt material. So I'm loving the blazer vibe of Silence & Noise's Sequin Trim Open Cardigan, $42 at Urban Outfitters. I love the contrast of the gray with black sequins, but this jacket is also available in black. The black version looks a bit dressier.
Lastly, you can always try a sequin vest, like Aqua's Sequined Racerback Vest, $78 at Bloomingdales. I love the slightly rocker vibe. With a vest like this, keep the neckline low (low v-neck, scoop neck, or low tank). Avoid t-shirt or high neck styles.
Ah....so much fun focusing on something so all-out glamorous. This blog is doing nothing for my shopping habit. Sigh.

ps. Why do I look so horrified? (Ignore, please, the fact that my husband is yelling, "Look mad! MAD! Now look surprised!")
Yes they are. All sequins. And there's more! Leopard prints, "I love Bingo", etc. If my sister pisses me off between now and Christmas, she just might find one of these babies under the tree...I'm thinking "Fancy Felines"...
