I was so honored to be asked by the very fabulous Rookie Mom bloggers, Whitney and Heather, to write an article for Rookie Moms on three fashionable (yet comfortable) sweatsuit alternatives. If you haven't yet heard of Rookie Moms, you are in for a real treat. The Rookie Moms started their website with the goal of publishing at least 365 fun ideas of What To Do With Baby. They were attempting to provide an antidote for the sleep deprived "mommy brain". Today, they have a fantastic website with THOUSANDS of fun things to do with a baby, toddler or pre-schooler, several baby and kid friendly travel guides to various cities, and other fun ideas for new moms (like how to actually COMPLETE a baby book). They also have a book available!
On their website, you can search for activities by age or type (crafty, outside, sleepy, etc). But what I like best about the Rookie Moms (in addition to the scores of fabulous tips) is the fact that their voices are REAL. They sound like moms, and make recommendations for moms. Unlike other magazines/websites out there, the Rookie Moms are never going to suggest anything so complicated that you end up with screams of frustration - from either you or your kid. Neither do they recommend ideas that cost a fortune. They are just two regular (albeit wildly creative) moms, sharing their fun ideas. How lucky for us.

Hi Jessica! I posted a response on the Rookie Mom page, but just in case, I'll re-post it here:
The sneaks in the pic are a limited edition Pucci print for Adidas that came out several years ago. I couldn’t even find them on ebay. I know Nike did a Pucci collaboration last winter, but the results were not that great. The best option, if you are really dying for these shoes is to try out Adidas’ new custom shoe shop. Got to: http://www.miadidas.com Choose the “mi Gazelle” shoe. Try a base color of pink or lime, and then experiment with the classic or fading square print in white. You can then pick colors for the stripes, laces, etc. I was actually able to design a pretty cool shoe with a similar vibe, if not the exact same pattern. Also, check out Adidas’ originals by original artist series. They may have something equally cool. Hope this helps!!

Darla -- thank you for taking the time to write such a nice comment! It's funny - Ain't No Mom Jeans was essentially born out of frustration that most fashion advice rotated around sky high heels and silky tops -- neither of which are mom friendly when running after a toddler. This site is really our way of sharing what we (painfully) are figuring out for ourselves! So glad you are finding it helpful!

thanks for the info on the jacket - one more question - I love the sneaker suggestions I really think that sneakers with jeans is tricky b/c I HATE "real" sneakers with jeans, it looks awful.
But cute fun sneakers can look cool. I do feel like it has to be the right jeans with the right sneakers. What are your thoughts on Saucony lo pro jazz as a choice?
I like the retro vibe. Just wondering your professional "stylish jeans" opinion.

Rachel -- Nice pick on the sneaks! I also love the retro vibe of the Saucony Low Pro Jazz. In term of the jeans.....I would avoid skinny jeans, or anything too slim and straight. The key is to find jeans with a good drape over the sneak. Bootcut jeans work well, and straight leg can be amazing - but it has to be just wide enough at the bottom not to bunch over the sneaker. The other key is length. Pick a pair of jeans and commit to wearing them with flats - hem, cut, whatever you need to do. The concept of wearing jeans with both heels and cute sneaks doesn't really work. (Well...you CAN do it, but it involves cuffing and showing some ankle, etc etc).
